Hey there, all you lovers of the most beautiful and oneiric side of music! I welcome you to my sweet sonic home with open arms and a heart full of inspiration to share!
My name is Serafim de Leon, I’m from Brazil and have been a music lover since my early days, just like most musicians… Ok, that’s a cliché, but is true. Even though I grew up surrounded by toy musical instruments such as flute, accordion, harp, clarinet and others, I didn’t actually know how to play any of them for the simple reason that they were all toys! And living in a small town back then, I could never go to music schools because there weren’t any music schools around!
As a kid, my musical taste was more oriented to children’s music and mainstream music that I used to listen to on the radio. That was during the 80’s (God, I’m getting old) and in the early 90’s, when I was around 14 years old I got an acoustic guitar for my birthday and it completely changed my life… I was so excited with it, but couldn’t indeed hire a music teacher because… you can bet why, right? So, the only way for me was trying to learn by myself and, in fact, I started playing my first chords all alone…
As you probably already know, I started my musical journey as an aspiring Heavy Metal guitarist in my teens - even though I didn’t have any electric guitar at the time- and since then this type of music accompanies me but… things have changed quite a bit throughout the years…
Don’t get me wrong, I still like playing my riffs on my electric guitar! However, when I discovered Classical music with bands such as Angra, Therion and Rhapsody of Fire, to mention a few, my world took a sudden turn. That was around 2000’s and I couldn’t resist listening to pure orchestral music. And it was a short step from Classical to other types of music… There came into my life New Age, Progressive Rock, Ethnic music… you know, majestic and ethereal sounds in general.
That caused me to rethink my musical ideology, and just to sum it up, I found myself stuck in an identity crisis that chased me for years and years, but everything is ok now. I’ve realized that my artistic identity is, indeed, represented by adjectives such as majestic, dreamlike, melodic, beautiful, spiritual, celestial, poetic and that sort of things… And, you know, we can find all these characteristics in different types of music…
In short, I’ve also learned how to play the keyboards and now I’m here, releasing my very first album - in which I present some of my favorite tunes from artists that I learned to admire - dedicated to the dreamiest side of music and ready to take on the world with a beautiful and poetic soundscape…
I really hope you truly appreciate my art with an open mind and without preconceived ideas, after all, good music is good music and those with eclectic tastes get more out of it, don’t you think? Please feel free to comment if you like and yes, sit back, relax, and enjoy some beautiful music that comes out from the heart… Thank you so much!!!
